Things to Do in Fort William

There are lots of activites which are available in the Scottish Highlands of Fort William mainly consisiting of action and outdoor adventure - due to this, Fort William has recently been voted Outdoor Capital of the UK.

Skiing, Snowboarding & Biking
Nevis Range is an all year round mountain ski resort and is situated 7 miles north of Fort William.  The popular World Cup Bike Championships are also held there every year, which brings thousands of people to Fort William every year. 

The Ice Factor
The Ice Factor features the UK 's largest articulated rock climbing wall making it the perfect place to practise, train and learn mountaineering skills.

Vertical Descents
Vertical Descents is a modern outdoor adventure activity centre offering a wide range of activities including Canyoning, White Water Rafting and Paintballing.

Go Karting
Raceway Karting Centre is an excellent day out. The centre is just one mile away from Fort William and is well worth a visit for kids of all ages!

Fired Art
Fired Art is an innovative, paint-your-own-pottery studio with a warm quircky cafe open to all. It is also a booking office and ticket office for local music events.

Jacobite Steam Train
Take a ride on the Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig.  You will visit the famous sites shot on the Harry Potter Movies!

Old Inverlochy Castle
At the turnoff to the A830 Road to the Isles in Fort William are the ruins of Old Inverlochy Castle, which are well worth a visit.

Fishing
There is excellent sea and freshwater fishing around Fort William.
